All Things Tech
Recently, I became aware of the fact that people have started following me on my neocities page. People with tech tendencies. I also noticed how little I've been writing about anything re: that.
I guess that relates to me just becoming jaded by the tech industry upon realization of how truly boring it is and how most of the money is made in boring corporate jingoism, instead of the autism of nerds (the fun stuff!).
But enough cynicism! Let's take some control back and have fun talking about all things tech!
My Privacy Fetish
I'm not sure where to begin, and where to end that, but I've noticed how little I actually talk about how much I care about privacy, just because it's so self-evident.
- I don't use socials - most people don't care about that.
- Not even WhatsApp - many people seem to be unusually shocked about that.
- No smartphone either (designer shit dumbphone gang) - some people died hearing about that.
- Not having a GPS device is a bit of a pain in the ass. I'm usually 5-30 minutes late whenever I'm "on time".
- I used QubesOS for a year, now I just stick with Debian.
- I use Tor Browser, if possible. Else Mullvad Browser. Else Hardened Firefox. Else Chromium.
- Pro-tip: If a site doesn't work with Tor, try some proxysite or archive.org.
- I do take care of my digital footprint - for some people it's obsessively much, for others it's not enough.
- I remove metadata, even if it makes me stand out a bit.
- Finding alternatives to Google, Amazon, etc. is my substitute for self-actualization.
- Whenever I made new friends and exchanged contacts, I used to give them a email or a matrix username - almost no one replied. Giving a reachable tel. number works though.
- There is no privacy with email (unless PGP'd) and SMS/telephone. But it's the only thing most people have.
- I need to start thinking if it's reasonable to be in touch with "most people" if they're so willing to suck the cock of Big Brother without the slightest bit of restraint.
- It's hard to navigate my legitimate worries about exessive data collection and my human need to socialize (contrary to many tech nerds, I'm not that autistic).
- Using fake names for almost everything can be fun, but also confusing and sometimes I risked legal repercussions.
- It's hard to avoid being on pictures if I'm outta house. I have nearly zero control over that, but I try to avoid pictures being taken of me, if possible. Not even at work.
- I could probably make a list on all the alternative tools and shit I use, but that's too much work and there are so many of these lists out there anyway. Maybe I'll still do it at some point.
This page is still WIP. I really hope I will add some more cool stuff in it.
My Backup Strategy
nothing lmao
I remember some /g/entlemen used to do these.

These are all things I actually use in my day-to-day life.
